Forum focuses on enhancement of economic cooperation.
The agenda of the roundtable that has been conducted in Ashgabat, on
December 16-18, in the current year focused on the ways to expand economic
cooperation to implement the priority projects in Turkmenistan aimed at
developing the social sphere, transport infrastructure, industrial production
and communications sector. The representatives of the ministries and
departments, banks of Turkmenistan and the Coordination Group composed of the
Islamic Development Bank, the Saudi Fund for Development, the Kuwait Fund for
Arab Economic Development, the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID)
and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) took part in the meeting
conducted in the conference hall of the President Hotel in Ashgabat.
To the order of the Government of Turkmenistan, the State Bank for Foreign
Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan as Islamic Development Bank governor from
Turkmenistan stood out the organizer of this forum.
The ministries and departments of Turkmenistan had submitted the investment
projects aimed at improving social services, modernizing transport and
communications and industrial infrastructure, telecommunications sector,
developing tourism industry, in particular Avaza national tourism zone as well
as the private sector to the Coordination Group for consideration. These
projects aroused great interest among the foreign partners, who expressed the
willingness to collaborate in implementation.
Signing the Protocol testified to the intense interest of foreign business
circles in enhancing cooperation with Turkmenistan as a country with the
profound economic potential as well as the support for the policy of
progressive reforms initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
